Jules Sherred, a disabled and autistic gay transgender man, was named NDP MP Alistair MacGregor’s campaign manager on August 9th.
“I’m excited for this campaign and not only for Alistair’s re-election, but for the diversity of NDP candidates running across the country and the chance to bring real change to Ottawa,” stated Sherred. “I chose to work on Alistair’s campaign because he is the type of leader who is willing to listen, learn and keep an open mind. The NDP is the party of social justice and change, the party that has fought for the rights I now have.”
“I am thrilled that Jules has agreed to manage my re-election campaign,” commented MacGregor. “He has already proven to be a well-organized go-getter who is bringing fresh and innovative ideas to the way we campaign.”
MacGregor won the riding of Cowichan-Malahat-Langford with 35% of the vote in 2015 and is confident with his strong campaign team he will hold his seat in the House of Commons.
“We have many problems here in Cowichan-Malahat-Langford and across Canada, such as adapting to the effects of climate change and the problems with the Cowichan watershed, the housing crisis, and opioids health crisis,” said MacGregor. “The NDP has proposed many solutions to build a better Canada in our New Deal for People.”
“There is an electricity within the campaign and a willingness for people to try different things and campaign in a way that is brand new,” said Sherred. “I feel that we are building a strong campaign and welcome those who care about climate change, housing and health care to join our team.”
The Duncan campaign office is officially opening this Sunday, August 18th at 2:00pm. MacGregor and Sherred are inviting the community to stop by.
